Running On Ayers
The Running & Life Journey of Kyrah Ayers

Founder & Owner of Actively Pursuing Goals Kyrah Ayers, is Actively Pursuing a Boston Marathon qualifying time. This blog began as a way to document the journey but has become so much more. The Joy Of It All
A couple months ago I was diagnosed with cancer. As I approach my 2nd surgery, I’m finding peace and joy in the journey as I listen for the lesson I’m meant to receive.

The Rhythm of Life
It’s amazing how influential rhythm can be on your life. I’m personally a very habitual person. I put the same things in the same pockets every day. When I run I avoid stoplights because stopping and starting breaks the rhythm of my steps. It took me a long time and a lot of races to learn to navigate water stops without losing a step (drop a comment if you use “the pinch method”).

Putting In The Work
In this blog I’ll share my plan to attack my Boston Qualifying goal this year. I ’ll break down how that looks in reality and ways I find appreciation in the process, especially in the challenges.
The mountains we’re climbing right now aren’t our first obstacles in life. The fact that you are reading this right now proves that the last obstacle didn’t take you out and the ones we’re facing now are just future memories; they are the beginning of our stories of triumph. The challenges are what make us stronger, tougher and wiser. Thank you for continuing to pursue your goals.

The Journey Continues
I try my best to follow through with what I say I’m going to do, but sometimes there are forces beyond our control that influence our timelines. For me, this can temporarily cause frustration, but I’ve learned over the years to process it, learn from it and move on. In pursuit of your goals, I feel it’s important to be kind to yourself.

Back to Oakland
I look forward to returning to the Oakland Marathon. I’m wondering if they’re going to add the Bay Bridge back into the marathon course or keep the double half marathon loop that they had last year. Either way, it will be exciting.
