Kyrah Ayers is the founder and owner of Actively Pursuing Goals. He’s been chasing and achieving goals for decades and loves helping others do the same.
Kyrah was blessed to be raised by some amazing parents as well as some amazing coaches of a variety of sports who taught him valuable lessons that he’s applied to several aspects of his life.
Kyrah is co-owner and driving force behind the first black owned Crystal Botanica in the city of Oakland, CA called Queen Hippie Gypsy which he and his wife opened in 2018.
Prior to this he founded the largest and longest running open mic poetry show in Solano County, CA called Poetry By The Bay which has allowed thousands of poets to come and share their work and to gain understanding and appreciation for themselves.
Kyrah was a Division 1 scholarship track & field athlete at CSU Fresno. After graduation, he fell in love with a beautiful woman, got married and eventually got addicted to running road races. His accomplishments continued to mount as he quickly became a force to be reckoned with at every distance between the 5k to the marathon. All this while, he was raising four beautiful children and running a business.
Kyrah served as captain of the Bay Area chapter of Black Men Run which encourages physical and mental health amongst African-American men.
In January 2020 Kyrah quit a six figure job of fifteen years with the Federal Government to pursue self-employment. When the business’ doors were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, he worked to support and grow Queen Hippie Gypsy from a brick & mortar mom & pop shop to an international presence that now services clients in all 50 states as well as internationally.
Kyrah isn’t done pursuing goals yet. He’s currently working to achieve the highly coveted Boston Marathon Qualifying time. The voyage from a long & triple jumper to marathoner while raising a family, working full time and transitioning into entrepreneurship has been quite a leap (pun intended).
Kyrah is a published author who recently released his first book of poetry titled My Light. He’s a writer by trade so be sure to follow the journey on his blogs “Running On Ayers & Life Lessons Through Sports”.
